Despite Tiktok ban in India, Tiktok remains the highest money making app in the world

It’s been over three months since the government of India banned a host of Chinese apps. The list included Bytedance’s wildly popular app TikTok. However, it seems like the India ban hasn’t had too much impact on the Chinese app’s revenue stream. As per a report by Sensor Tower, TikTok raked in $130.5 million in worldwide user spending in September. TikTok was the highest-grossing non-gaming app on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.





Compared to last year in September, TikTok made 7.9 times more money. What’s interesting to note is that a whopping 89% of user spending on TikTok came from China. US accounted for 6% whereas Turkey contributed 1%. The numbers do look impressive despite the India ban as it was a critical market for the company.
